Our next session of Basic Obedience/Good Manners classes will begin September 4th, 2014- Spring into Fall with this fun activity with your doggie! It is a nice way to spend quality time with your canine companion, and you and your family will learn positive, effective training techniques to have a happy, well-adjusted and well-behaved dog that is also a welcome member of the community!
Classes are at the Des Moines Fieldhouse, 1000 S. 220 St., Des Moines, WA 98198, right across from the police station. Classes are open to dogs of any age (yes, old dogs CAN learn new tricks!) We of course have puppies in class, but we also get a lot of recently adopted/rescued adult dogs, purebred and mixed-breed, all sizes, colors and shapes!
New sessions generally begin the first Thursday of each month and run year 'round (we are taking a break in August, but classes resume again in September). We meet once a week on Thursday evenings at 7:15 PM for two hours, and each session runs for 4 weeks. The full session is only $85! Please call 206-870-6527 to register, or go to www.desmoineswa.gov , click on Parks and Recreation and then Enrichment Classes. You can also email or call me with any questions, LIKE us on Facebook, and we always welcome visitors, so stop by anytime we have classes running and watch for a while, we would be happy to see you!
Spring has sprung! I love my place and I feel so fortunate to have over two acres for my dogs to run and play on, in addition to having lots of room to do obedience work with them. I often tell them what lucky pups they are! I feel blessed.
Miles was born in July 2011 so is almost 3 years of age; his dam is Reina who is a Champion, Canine Good Citizen and is Herding Instinct Certified, and his sire is Primo, who I bred and was the pick show puppy out of my girl Devon and Lem Miller's Josh, who are both multiple Best-In-Show Champions with multiple performance titles.
Miles is updated on all health care and vaccines, is neutered, and is a healthy 90 pounds. He has been fully socialized and obedience trained, including attaining his Canine Good Citizen award.
The current owners' family includes two small children and they tell me he gets along great with everyone. He is a home guardian, and when visitors are welcomed into their home, Miles welcomes them too!
Now that he is maturing and becoming an adult male American Bulldog, his owners have been having issues with their next-door neighbor's dog and him not getting along. Miles' owners tell me that he still gets along with most dogs but occasionally reacts aggressively to certain dogs.
(Please read my page "Is an American Bulldog for you?" www.SunstarAmericanBulldogs.com which explains American Bulldog temperament and behaviors.) Also check out the photo gallery for the Reina X Primo litter, you can see lots of pics of Miles AKA Gilligan as a puppy when I had him!
Miles' owners feel they want to place him in a new home at this time; he is in Bellingham, WA and they are willing to meet up with potential new owners. Please contact me if you are interested in giving this nice, handsome American Bulldog his "forever" home- Thank You, Jan~
