Here at SUNSTAR "Best-In-Show & Best Friends" Champion American Bulldogs and Weimaraners, I take dog breeding very seriously, and I take pride in being a selective, quality breeder.  I usually have only one litter a year or so, as I put so much time and effort into each top-quality breeding.  It is very important to me to be a reputable, honest, and responsible breeder, and I spend the extra time and money to do the best I can for my dogs and puppies.  I have been involved in dogs since 1975 and it is more than just a hobby business for me, it is my passion.

My puppies are normally reserved ahead of time, often well before the breeding occurs; my Puppy Purchasers seem to feel that my puppies are worth the wait, and I greatly appreciate their patience and their dedication to getting just the right dog for them.

There are many things to consider before bringing a new puppy into your family; in addition to the obvious decisions like what type of dog you desire and what veterinarian you will use, choosing the right place to get a new dog is highly important.  Buying from a reputable breeder who will be there to support you for the lifetime of your new pet is imperative, as is knowing your puppy's pedigree so that you have the best odds of having a healthy, good-temperamented, long-lived dog.
I often hear folks comment that they don't care about registrations or pedigrees, because they "just want a family pet", not a show dog.  However, there are aspects of your puppy's pedigree that ARE important for EVERYONE to know, like making sure your new puppy is not the result of in-breeding (which can be disasterous and lead to a multitude of health problems later in life), knowing which bloodlines and temperaments are in your puppy's background, plus knowing your puppy's mother and father are registered and have their hips certified through OFA/PennHIP make it likely that your puppy will not fall victim to crippling Canine Hip Dysplasia.  Good breeders can tell you about your puppy's pedigree, because that is how we choose which dogs to breed together to produce quality offspring.

I carefully screen my Puppy Purchasers, and reserve the right to refuse someone if I am uncomfortable with any aspect of the application process.  My dogs are my family and I want my puppies to go into the "forever" home that they deserve, and I enjoy staying in contact with my Puppy Purchasers for years to come.

When we do a breeding, there is no way to know how many puppies or what gender we will get (that is up to Mother Nature!)  I usually take 8-10 reservations with $200 deposits, and sometimes put a few additional people on the waiting list.

I try to be as fair and equitable to everyone as possible; once I receive a completed Puppy Purchaser Application (under Puppy Sales at the top of the page), I review it and then will contact you and we can email, chat on the phone or meet in person, and ask questions of each other.  If all goes well on both ends, I will let you know that you may then send the $200 deposit to hold your puppy; when I receive your deposit is when your place in line is reserved.

My top-quality American Bulldog puppies are $1,200 and my top-quality Weimaraner puppies are $1,000, and I give a discount to Law Enforcement Officers (LE Officers, please contact me about your discount.)

***I currently do not have any breedings planned for 2010- if you want a puppy soon, please go to my links page and contact Lem Miller with Joshua Kennels for an American Bulldog, or contact Shela and Cliff with OwyheeStar Weimaraners or the Western WA Weimaraner Club for a Weimaraner.  Thanks and Good Luck!  Jan~
